Karl Johnson: Head Coach |

Coach Johnson and his wife Beth live in Dublin with their three children; Brian, Kelly, and Erin. Karl and Beth celebrated their 20th anniversary this past summer. Beth is a first grade teacher at Worthington Hills Elementary in Worthington, Ohio.
Coach Johnson is beginning his twelth year as head coach at Dublin Scioto High School. Prior to becoming the head coach of the Irish football program, Coach Johnson enjoyed thirteen years as an assistant coach in the Dublin City Schools.
During his 11 year tenure as head coach the Irish are 77-44, have won three OCC Championships and have qualified for the playoffs five times including a trip to the state final four in 2003. The 2010 Irish finished 6-4 and 4-3 in the OCC Cardinal Division, finishing 3rd in the the league. Over 60 seniors from the Irish football program have gone on to continue playing football in college, including 18 division 1 players, and 1 Navy Seal.
Karl is very active in the state and local football coaches association. He has served as regional director for the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association as well as president of the Central District Football Coaches Association. Coach Johnson also sits on the Sportsmanship, Integrity, and Ethics Committee for the Ohio High School Athletic Association. This past year Coach Johnson has organized and coordinated camps by the Toledo Rockets, Pro-Kicker Academy, McCallister Scouting Combine, and the Irish hosted an 8 team, 7 on 7 tournament.
Held each June, the Irish youth football camp is considered by many as the best youth football camp in central Ohio. Outside of football, Coach Johnson volunteers his time in the DYA athletic programs in Dublin coaching basketball, baseball, and softball.

Coach Taracuk returns to the Scioto coaching staff for the 2011 football season. In 2010, Coach Taracuk retired from teaching after a 35 year career in education, the last 22 at DublinÕs Davis Middle School. This is DougÕs 37th year of coaching, which includes stints at Cincinnati Princeton,Massillon Jackson, Cardington-Lincoln, Galion, Worthington, Dublin, Dublin Coffman and Thomas Worthington. Coach Taracuk was an assistant on the 1985 Division II State Championship Team at Galion High School. The Barberton, Ohio native completed his Bachelors Degree in physical education and science education at Miami University. He also has a Masters Degree in Sports Management from The Ohio State University.. Coach Taracuk and his wife Krista have two sons, Brad, and Mark.

Coach Hoover is in his eleventh season as an Irish Football Coach. Gabe coached four seasons with the freshmen football team, three as head coach and became the Irish running backs coach in 2006. Coach Hoover also has coached at Davis Middle School. Gabe attended The Ohio State University and received a BS in Fitness and Management and a M.Ed in Physical Education. Coach Hoover and his wife, Georgia, have two daughters, Alexis and Morgan. Coach Hoover teaches Health and Physical Education at Dublin Scioto High School.

Coach Doug Tima, Otterbein graduate, in his 4th year with the Irish. Tima teaches IB Physics and Physical Science at Dublin Scioto High School. Tima graduated from Bucyrus High School in 2003 where he played football and basketball. He received a BS in Physical Science and AYA Education from Otterbein College in 2007, where he was a four-year letterman, first team all OAC player, and captain on the football team. During his time there, he worked for the NCAA
as the Vice- Chair of the National Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Coach Tima resides in Westerville with his wife Jessica.

Coach March begins his fourth year with the Irish (97, 09 - 11). Lynn has over 25 years of coaching experience at the high school level including stints at Northridge, St. Charles, Heath, Big Walnut, Franklin Heights, and Central Crossing. Lynn is a graduate of Mt. Blanchard Riverdale High School, and earned his Bachelors Degree from Ohio Northern University in Health and Physical Education (1980), and his Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University (1999). Lynn also received certification in Adapted Physical Education and General Science from The Ohio State University. Currently Lynn teaches Health and Physical Education in the South-Western City Schools (Central Crossing), he also coaches seventh grade girls basketball at Pleasantview Middle School (SWCS) and this past summer helped coach his daughters DYA Softball Team. LynnÕs wife, Beth, teaches Early Reading Intervention at Darby Woods Elementary in the South-Western City Schools. They have one daughter, Maggie who will be entering sixth grade at Karrer Middle School in the Dublin City Schools. The MarchÕs have resided in Dublin the past 17 years.

Coach Schafer begins his 19th year teaching in the Dublin City School system. Jim is beginning his 11th year of teaching Social Studies at Scioto High School. He currently teaches Modern World History and History of the Americas in the International Baccalaureate program. This is also Coach SchaferÕs 12th year at Scioto as the Irish Defensive Coordinator. Jim also has had coaching stints at Dublin Coffman High School, Sells Middle School, and Otterbein College. Jim graduated from Painesville Riverside High School in 1985. He earned his Bachelor's of Education Degree from Bowling Green State University in 1990. JimÕs wife, Jennifer, is the librarian at Sells Middle School. He is also the proud father of Scioto Irish students and football players, Jacob (Sophmore) and Justin (Freshman).

Coach Schall is in his 12th year at Dublin Scioto High School. He graduated from Logan Elm High School in 1986 where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He is a 1990 graduate of Capital University where he received his B.A. in Art Education and played football. Additionally, Coach Schall received a M.A. in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University. After graduating from Capital University, he taught and coached at Hamilton Township for nine years, serving two years as an offensive coordinator and five years as the Head Girls Track Coach. Coach Schall, his wife Daphne and their two children, Allyson and Caleb, reside in Grove City.

Coach Witt is beginning his eighth year as an assistant coach for the Irish. Coach Witt has sixteen years of coaching experience. Coach Witt is a graduate of Westerville South High School and The Ohio State University. Coach Witt teaches History at Dublin Scioto High School. Coach Witt and his wife Kortney reside in Westerville with their four children Hannah, Zachary, Emma, and Gracie.

Coach Ken is entering his first season at Dublin Scioto. Coach Ken is a graduate of Westland High School where he played 4 years of football and basketball. Coach Ken then continued his education and football career at Heidelberg College and graduated with a degree in Psychology.
Coach Ken is a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach at Life Time Fitness. Coach Ken resides in Dublin and is due to be married in Nov. 2012.

Coach Nosker is returning to Dublin Scioto for his 29th season of coaching varsity football. Coach Nosker will begin his 10th year of football at Dublin Scioto. Dave is a graduate of The Ohio State University and received his Masters Degree in Education Administration from Ashland University. Coach Nosker spent three years in the Canadian Football League, playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 1969-1972. Dave is returning for his thirteenth year as the principal at Davis Middle School. Coach Nosker's wife, George Ann, is the registrar at Jerome High School. They have two children, both graduates of the Dublin Schools. Mike is an administrative technician at Dent Wizard and Nichole is a graduate of the University of Findlay and is an employee of the Dublin City Schools. Dave and George Ann are the proud grandparents of their granddaughter, Mackenzie.

Jon Torski is in his fourth year as a coach for the Irish and his second as the head freshmen coach. Jon is in his final year at The Ohio State University where he is majoring in finance with a minor in coaching education. Jon is a 2007 graduate of Dublin Scioto High School where he was a starter at linebacker.

Brad Piunno is starting his second year as a freshman assistant, sixth with the Irish. The 2000 Scioto graduate was a two year starter for the Irish in both football and baseball. After graduating Brad continued his schooling at Wright State University, was also a member of the Raiders baseball team, and graduated with a business degree in 2004. Upon graduating coach Piunno embarked on a coaching career with the Scioto football program as a volunteer assistant for four years. During those four years Brad was continuing his education at Ashland University where he received his teaching license in 2008. Coach Piunno is in his second year as an educator and currently teaches math at Scioto High School and is the head freshman baseball coach. Brad and his wife Nicole reside in Hilliard and will welcome a baby girl at the end of the season.

Alex Place is starting his first year as a freshman assistant. Coach Place is a graduate of Archbishop Alter High School in 2007. Coach Place is currently pursuing his degree in Sports Management and his MasterÕs degree in Education from Ohio State University. Alex has also spent the last two baseball seasons as the JV assistant coach at Scioto. Coach Place resides in Columbus.

Coach Castoe returns to the Irish for his fourth year as an assistant for the Irish. Coach Castoe is a 2006 graduate of Worthington Kilbourne High School. Coach Castoe is the Youth Pastor at Sawmill Baptist Church in Powell.

Keith Wedinger: Webmaster |
Keith is the Irish webmaster and team statistician. The Irish are very proud of their website, www.sciotofootball.com, developed by Keith during the 2000 season. Keith is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (www.bearcatnews.com) and is employed at IBM. Keith is married to Karen Wedinger and they reside in Powell with their two daughters Brenda and Kimberly.
